TikTok Star Addison Rae’s Account Reinstated After Being ‘Permanently Banned’

Addison Rae, one of TikTok’s biggest and highest-paid stars who made over $5 million last year, was told her account was “permanently banned” from the social media platform on Thursday, though it has since been restored — a move that’s leading many to wonder why the app would silence one of its most popular traffic draws.

Rae, who has over 85 million followers on TikTok, posted screenshots on Twitter late Thursday night of a message from the video-sharing app that said her account had been “permanently banned due to multiple violations of our Community Guidelines,” and did not further elaborate on the issue or speculate as to how she violated the terms.

Representatives from TikTok told Forbes that Rae’s account “was briefly down last night then restored within the hour.”

TikTok and Rae’s representatives would not give more detail as to why Rae’s account was banned.

Man arrested in connection with shooting at Milpitas hotel

MILPITAS – A 39-year-old man was arrested in connection with a shooting over the weekend at a Milpitas hotel.

Around 4 p.m. Saturday, a male suspect fired a gun at two female victims at the Executive Inn at 95 Dempsey Road, the Milpitas Police Department said in a news release Monday.

“Thankfully, no one at the hotel was injured,” police said.

Police said the suspect was identified as a Milpitas resident who was on state parole for criminal threats. He was also wanted for a parole violation.

Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for the suspect for attempted homicide, robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, and shooting into an inhabited dwelling, police said. They also obtained a search warrant for his home and vehicle.

Around 10:20 a.m. Sunday, police spotted the suspect driving away from his home and tried to stop him. Police said the suspect “refused to pull over” and led officers in a pursuit. The chase ended when the suspect lost control of his vehicle and hit a wall near North Milpitas Boulevard and Escuela Parkway.

The suspect was taken into custody and treated for unspecified injuries at a hospital, police said. He was later booked into Santa Clara County jail for the Ramey warrant, a parole violation warrant, and charges of felony evading and misdemeanor hit-and-run.

Police said the shooting was not a random act of violence and the “involved parties … were known to one another.”

Father charged after toddler fatally shot mother during Zoom call

A Florida father has been arrested and charged over the fatal shooting of his girlfriend by the couple's two-year-old child in August.

The toddler found Veondre Avery's loaded gun inside a children's backpack while mother Shamaya Lynn was on a work video call, police said.

Mr. Avery, 22, stands accused of manslaughter and failure to securely store a firearm.

Court records show he does not yet have an attorney and has not entered a plea.

Manslaughter is a felony punishable by up to 15 years in prison. Mr. Avery could also see 15 years of probation and a $10,000 (£7,308) fine.

The gun was kept unsecured inside a children's backpack that was left on the floor of the couple's bedroom, according to Altamonte Springs police.

They said the toddler took the weapon, moved behind the mother, and fired a single shot.

One of Lynn's co-workers on the Zoom video call first phoned in the 11 August incident to emergency responders. She reported hearing a loud noise and seeing Lynn fall backward.

"One of the girls passed out...She has the camera on. Her baby is crying in the back," the co-worker said in a call released by police to local media.

When Mr. Avery returned home, he found his girlfriend bleeding on the floor. He called the police and asked paramedics to "please hurry", according to the Orlando Sentinel newspaper.

During the call, he said he had just returned home and didn't know what happened. He could be heard performing CPR as he waited for help to arrive.

First responders attempted to aid the 21-year-old, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

"Your decisions have consequences," Altamonte Springs police officer Roberto Ruiz said in a news conference on Tuesday.

"You have a responsibility as a gun owner to take care of those firearms."

Neither of the couple's two children, who were both at home during the incident, were injured. Both are now in the care of other family members.

Mr. Avery is due back in court on 23 November.

Trump must give videotaped deposition in protest lawsuit, judge orders

Former President Donald Trump must sit for a videotaped deposition next week as part of a lawsuit involving his anti-immigrant rhetoric, a judge in the Bronx ordered.

A group of Mexican protesters said they have assaulted during a rally outside Trump Tower in September 2015 over the then-candidate's comments that Mexican immigrants were criminals and rapists.

The lawsuit named Trump, his campaign, his former head of security Keith Schiller, and others.

"Donald J. Trump shall appear for a deposition October 18, 2021, at 10 a.m. ... or, in the event of illness or emergency, on another mutually agreed to a date on or before October 31, 2021," Judge Doris Gonzalez's order said.

Trump faces the prospect of another deposition by the end of the year as part of a defamation lawsuit filed by former "Apprentice" contestant Summer Zervos, who alleges that Trump sexually assaulted her at the Beverly Hills Hotel in 2007, which Trump denies. Zervos claims that Trump defamed her during his campaign when he said she lied about the alleged assault.

Trump has also denied the allegations by former Elle columnist E. Jean Carroll, who is suing him for defamation after he accused her of lying about an alleged 1990s rape in a dressing room at Bergdorf Goodman.

Trump's tax filings and business practices are also under criminal investigation by the district attorneys in Manhattan and New York State.
