TikTok Star Addison Rae’s Account Reinstated After Being ‘Permanently Banned’

Addison Rae, one of TikTok’s biggest and highest-paid stars who made over $5 million last year, was told her account was “permanently banned” from the social media platform on Thursday, though it has since been restored — a move that’s leading many to wonder why the app would silence one of its most popular traffic draws.

Rae, who has over 85 million followers on TikTok, posted screenshots on Twitter late Thursday night of a message from the video-sharing app that said her account had been “permanently banned due to multiple violations of our Community Guidelines,” and did not further elaborate on the issue or speculate as to how she violated the terms.

Representatives from TikTok told Forbes that Rae’s account “was briefly down last night then restored within the hour.”

TikTok and Rae’s representatives would not give more detail as to why Rae’s account was banned.
